I know, I'm scared too!!
Instead of panicking, I wanted to give you some other ways to follow In the Hammock :)
Follow by Email:
Bloglovin:
You can also import ALL of the blogs you follow with Google into your Bloglovin feed! Go to your Settings and look for Import Blogs!
Subscribe in your choice of reader:
(you may have click Show ALL Subscription Options)
Feedly:
A lot of users have switched their Google Reader settings directly into Feedly. I haven't done this yet, but I probably will soon. There is even a page of FAQs about migrating your account to Feedly
Twitter:
Pinterest:
Thanks, everyone!! Let me know in the comments if you are following in any of these new ways and I'll try to follow you back as well, so we can all try to keep up! Also, let me know of any other ways you are trying to stay updated on blogs!
Not quite clear about this. I get your blog on my dashboard. Is this what's going away? Or is it something else?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point, Sue. I honestly don't know if the Dashboard part is going away. If anyone else knows the answer, please let us know!
ReplyDeleteThat pictures is great!
ReplyDeleteI'm so not clear on the whole google going away thing. I think I got networked blogs and bloglovin in my blog but I don't know for sure or how to make it work, so I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it :(
What I heard is that the dash will still be there because it is not part of google reader. It is part of blogger.that google has something else that they are going to put in place of reader ( at some point).
ReplyDeleteBut until then I think Facebook and twitter are the next best thing just in case they do take dash down.
I hope is was of some help.
Alex, Thanks! I honestly am not totally clear on the whole thing either. I am somewhat bandwagon-ing here because so many other bloggers are making other options available. I don't want to be the last one left out in the rain with no readers when Google reader goes away!
ReplyDeleteDaydreamerN, thank you! I just did some research and I'm finding that the Dashboard "should" still be there also! I honestly use Dashboard instead of Google reader, but I'm not sure what most of my readers use!
Also, DaydreamrN, does that mean that the GFC widget will still be intact?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on Google reader! I've taken a little siesta on Chick with Books and it's amazing the changes that are taking place over the last few months! I generally follow blogs via Dashboard, but I'm going to have to take a look and see what I need to update on my own blog!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
Hi Suzanne! Yes, so many changes! I am a little behind making the switch!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I've been planning on doing a similar post July 1st.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the picture you chose.
So far, I'm digging Feedly.
Thanks, Juju! I haven't signed up for Feedly yet, but I plan too!
ReplyDeleteI'm not crazy about Feedly, but I do like NetVibes -- just wish they had a phone app. At least there are several following options to choose from. =)
ReplyDeleteI navigated everything over to feedly but I'm using blog lovin'. I really love it! I follow you all those places already!!!
ReplyDeleteHeather
Carrie, I'm following you both through Bloglovin and Feedly. The last one is just as easy to transfer your subscription to as Bloglovin, but the plus is that it lets you read full articles from the blog, not just the previews. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteOkay, now following you on Twitter, but if the dash isn't going anywhere I'm fine. I will check out Bliglovin', but I already have Feedly, so that may be enough.
ReplyDeleteDiana, thanks for the heads up about NetVibes!
ReplyDeleteHeather, thank you for following :) I guess I need to check out feedly!
Kara-karina, thank you for following, too! Feedly sounds really similar to g reader!
Sue, thank you! Hopefully the dashboard is staying put! I think Feedly would be enough :)
Thanks for the heads up, Carrie. I signed up with Bloglovin and hoping that nothing goes wrong with the importing.
ReplyDeleteYou succumbed to the Bloglovin pressure! lol
ReplyDeleteSomeday we'll actually understand it all too :-))
