My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Summary from goodreads.com:

Cook, craft, and create with recipes, projects, and ideas from the blog SixSistersStuff.com. Camille, Kristen, Elyse, Stephanie, Lauren, and Kendra are six sisters who share their easy, affordable recipes and crafts in this collection of family favorites. These pages contain more than 90 tried-and-true recipes that use ingredients commonly found in your pantry, with easy-to-follow instructions and photographs of each dish. Charming do-it-yourself projects, such as stained Mason Jars and a Ruffles and Yarn Wreath, are fun to create and require little time or money. Suggestions for indoor activities for kids, healthy snack ideas, or an inexpensive night out are among the many lists included in the book.

My Review:

Wow, these recipes really do sound easy! I think I can do this! I've read some cookbooks that have me scratching my head and saying, "What is that?" about certain ingredients. But these recipes use ingredients that I have actually heard of and possibly even already have!

The main dishes portion of the book does use a lot of ground beef, which isn't something I eat much of. But as I was reading through the recipes, a lot of them sound like they would still be great even if the beef were omitted entirely, or if  a substitute were used.

The side dishes and desserts parts of the book were the best part for me. I love that the sisters give us healthy ingredients without going overboard or being unrealistic. There were some skinny cupcakes that just sounded delicious! And 7-Up seems to be a secret ingredient in a lot of their recipes! I can't wait to try it out.

The photos were beautiful, and there is a large photo of each recipe-yay! A lot of readers want to see what they are going to make, isn't that half the fun of a cookbook?

The extra stuff like the crafts and the to-do lists were more of a bonus or a background detail for me. The real stars of the book are the recipes!

Bottom Line: This cookbook is definitely a keeper, with beautiful photos and recipes so easy that I want to try them all!

  1. Sounds like a great book! I love pictures of what the finished recipe is supposed to look like, as that gives me something to aim for! And couldn't agree more about some cookbooks leaving you scratching your head with the list of ingredients. I prefer simple recipes with ingredients I've actually heard of. Will definitely check this one out!

  9. I do love cookbooks where the ingredients are things you're likely o have in the pantry and don't take long to make! After a long day at work, I want to make something simple - but preferably something I don't have to feel guilty about, like a toasted sandwich or a packaged meal. Not sure I'd want to mix in a soft drink, though!

  12. i like that you made more variety possible by switching out the meat for other meats in the main dishes section. that's something i might not think about so i appreciate that.

  13. I love it when cookbooks have simple ingredients. I'm not a huge fan of ground beef either but I can make substitutions.

  14. I've pinned some of their recipes on Pinterest before (no-bake cookies I think). This cookbook sounds like it could be good though ground beef isn't the healthiest ingredient, it is easy to work with and there are vegetarian substitutes. I will have to check it out.
