ReplyDeleteMy favourite SVH memory is lounging by the pool at my old summer club with my girlfriends...we'd all be sitting on our lawn chairs reading the books and gasping aloud. It was hilarious and far too fun! +2
When I moved out of my dad's house, I gave away all of my Sweet Valley books, and I had every copy of every Sweet Valley series except Senior Year. I still miss those books way too much. My favorite Sweet Valley was the Wakefield Legacy books (both of them).

I loved SVH and would wait in great anticipation for each new one to be released. I had shelves full of them. I'm not sure what my mom did with them. With a little luck, she still has them around.

+2 I don't have any Sweet Valley High memories except knowing that they were popular when my younger sister was in middle school! Makes me feel just a little bit old since I was more of a Nancy Drew girl!
I'm so glad to hear all of your SVH memories!!
ReplyDeleteMelissa, that's too funny, and it sounds familiar!!
Ashley, wow, you had all of them! That's awesome! I'm sorry you had to give them away :( I loved the legacy books too :)

Hi Carrie, I loved this series when I was younger. Unfortunately my mom thought that I was too young to be reading them, so I ended up taking them out of the library on the sly... I think my favourite editions are the Super Editions and the Legacy books. I ended up finding the Patman's of Sweet Valley High at a book sale this past spring/summer, and I couldn't leave it there, so I ended up picking it up. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower through GFC as well.

Wow, I can't believe that Francine Pascal is returning to the world of Sweet Valley I remember having to sneak the Sweet Valley High books into my house because my parents wouldn't let me read them. I used to love those books. These, and the Babysitter's Club, are what showed me how much fun reading can be. I'm not sure how I feel about returning to these books as an adult though...
ReplyDeletethis was definitely one of my favorite. I dont know they will publish another book on this one!Whoot!
ReplyDeleteLol, I would so wanna know what happens to the, :) Cos like you I read them all. I used to run into the shelf where they were and grab them before anyone else has the chance when the bookmobile came to our school
ReplyDeleteI was such a Sweet Valley kid. I started with the Twins and moved on to SVH before I was probably ready, but I loved those girls like sisters. My favorite Sweet Valley memory: dressing up as a Sweet Valley High cheerleader in fifth grade (thanks to my mom for hew awesome sewing skills!)

So much better than Team Edward/Jacob shirts. Totally love it! I read Sweet Valley inappropriately early in life, I was like in 2nd grade, but freaking loved the twins so much. I have two favorite books, but I don't know the titles and can't research as they are in storage waiting for the way distant future so if I have a daughter she too can enjoy them as much as I did. Anyway, the first is from the Sweet Valley Twins series, and it was the Christmas special book--that I loved initially strictly because it was longer than usual, haha, but I vaguely remember a porcelain doll fantasy adventure with the girls and another set of twins, Adair and Dorian (never forget the names because A. awesome, B. might have been in love with them) and I just wished they would come take me to their cool world and share the kiss in the creepy romantic basement tunnel of a castle. And then second favorite, was when I was in like 5th grade reading SVH and there was a moment when Liz and Bruce Patman (totally the character Chuck Bass was ripped off of) were getting all touchy feely in her kitchen with Todd like right outside at their pool party. I was terribly young for it, but totally lived vicariously through the twins in their awesome world. Can't wait for this to come out, because that first chapter is such a tease, where is Jessicaaa!? (ps, totally cried when I thought Jessica died in one of the books, I think it had a purple cover, hahaha)
ReplyDeleteYeah, SV was a huge part of my childhood and I shall not forget it soon! Stoked to see there's this neat-o revival movement for us girls!
I follow via GFC. Thanks for the opportunity!

I loved the SVH books as a kid! Todd Wilkins was among my first literary crushes & I went through a phase of wanting to follow in Elizabeth's footsteps and become a reporter. Jessica generally drove me crazy, but she had her moments of level-headed kindness and looking out for her sister. Most of my SVH memories are of Elizabeth and the guys in her life - Todd Wilkins & Jeffrey French. Remember when Liz ended up in a coma? Wow, thinking about SVH is making me wonder what happened to all my old books. I will definitely have to check out Sweet Valley Confidential! :)
